DVC is a Content Management and distribution system that enables you to store all your teaching resources on a central server & then browse, search, view or play this content from a PC, laptop or IWB. DVC is a Camera Management system, Digital Signage system, Free-to-Air & Foxtel recording system, Editing systems, Content package, Network controlled system & much more. It is able to legally play copyright protected content across your schools IT network.

A D.I.B. Australia projector and motorised screen installation in a library reading pit.  When required a motorised screen can be lowered from its ceiling recess in front of the feature wall.  A ceiling mounted projector projects onto the screen as required.  The image below shows a Joey Controller which controls the installation and wall plates that offer various connectivity options.

A custom designed portable audio visual solution with 50" Panasonic Commercial Plasma and JED controller.  This flexible solution offers VGA and audio inputs.  Being on large sturdy wheels, the unit is easily moved within a room or transferred from room to room as required.  The JED controller is set up similar to installed rooms at this customers site ensuring ease of use for anyone needing to use this system.

ACHIEVING SUPERIOR AUDIO VISUAL INSTALLATIONS

When schools are built, expanded or refurbished the person responsible for dealing with the architect and builders ends up being run off their feet.  They face a challenging time, often having to juggle managing the largest project they may ever be responsible for, whilst coping with the demands of their regular job.

Planning for Audio Visual services

One aspect of new builds, extensions or refurbishments that is easy to overlook is the audio visual element.  It is important that you consider the audio visual requirements of your project before the tender stage, and it is recommended that you consult with an audio visual systems specialist and obtain advice on how best to integrate audio visual systems infrastructure into your overall project plan.

Start early

Start your audio visual systems planning at the pre-tender stage.  This gives you time to look at the various technologies available and consider which are most appropriate to the needs of your students.  Audio visual technologies are constantly changing and some good advice at the planning stage will ensure you are up-to-date with the latest developments.  A good audio visual systems specialist will make you aware of relevant technologies and developments, and will be able to advise you on issues such as allowing for future expansion, networking and future proofing.

There is no such thing as generic cabling

A common mistake is to not consider your audio visual requirements early enough and to ask for generic audio visual cabling at the building stage.  In the same way as each student is an individual, so to will be even the most basic of audio visual requirements.  You can only be sure that cabling roughed-in at the building stage will be suitable for the equipment subsequently installed if you decide on what is to go in each room before building commences.  Your audio visual systems specialist can design appropriate cabling infrastructure and specify termination and appropriate power point locations for you to incorporate in tender documents.      

Rough-in cabling at building stage

Once armed with the cabling design and specification you can pass this to your architect or builder to incorporate into the overall building project.  By having your cabling roughed-in at the building stage you achieve a superior, more professional and aesthetically pleasing installation.  Unsightly cables can be run in the ceiling, or in wall frames that are to be plastered over, eliminating the later use of duct.  Provision can be made for power outlets immediately adjacent to where projectors, interactive whiteboards and speakers are to be installed. 

Book your audio visual specialist for the rough-in 

It is important to advise your audio visual systems specialist when the rooms to be roughed-in are expected to be at the pre-plaster stage.  There will often only be a short window of opportunity for cables to be roughed-in between framing being completed and plastering commencing.  A good audio visual systems specialist will have a lead time for works, so building progress should be communicated to them regularly to ensure they have scheduled technicians for rough-in works at the appropriate time.

Installing your audio visual equipment

As your building project nears completion your audio visual specialist can return, install and test your audio visual equipment.  If you have given adequate consideration to your audio visual requirements at the pre-tender stage, there will be appropriate audio visual cabling and infrastructure in place to complete the installation.
